The Obama Administration and EPA today released their final Clean Power Plan aimed at reducing carbon pollution from power plants. The final rule sets an interim goal (2022-2029) for Arkansas of 1,411 pounds per megawatt-hour. The 2030 goal for Arkansas is 1,130 pounds per megawatt-hour.

PPGMR’s Jamie Fugitt addressed participants in the Arkansas Fellowship program during the organization’s second year kickoff event held at the Governor’s Mansion. The Arkansas Fellowship program is focused on keeping talented Arkansas college graduates in state. Participating companies hire recent Arkansas college graduates where they become a Fellow with a local company. Jamie Fugitt serves as the chairman of the Fellowship board.
The United States Supreme Court’s opinion in Michigan v. Environmental Protection Agency et al, 576 U.S. ____ (2015) dealt a major blow to the EPA’s efforts to regulate the emission of mercury and other pollutants from power plants. The Supreme Court held in a 5-4 decision, Justice Antonin Scalia wrote for the majority, that the EPA unreasonably interpreted the Clean Air Act without first considering the costs on industry to do so.
